Welcome to An Lòchran

An Lòchran is a non profit organisation which exists to develop and promote the Gaelic arts in Glasgow, and to establish a Gaelic cultural centre in the city. Glasgow and Gaelic are inextricably linked. The city has been home to a large community of Gaelic speakers since the 18th century, and today, one in every six Gaelic speakers in Scotland resides in, or around Glasgow. An Lòchran strives to celebrate our rich cultural traditions and aims to bring this culture within reach of a wider population.

We welcome contact from anyone with an interest in Gaelic arts.

AN LÒCHRAN HAS A NEW DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

An Lòchran has named Duncan MacNeil as their new Development Manager. Duncan is from Barra and brings extensive experience of working in the Gaelic media sector, in both production and in front of the camera, as well as in live theatre.

In his new role working with the An Lòchran Board, Duncan will progress new projects at an exciting time in Gaelic development in Glasgow. With Glasgow City Council's recently launched Gaelic Language Plan it is a time of great opportunity to work with partners and grow Gaelic arts activity in the city. Duncan will be based at Mansfield Street in Partick with other Gaelic development partners.

Duncan said: "I am very pleased to have been appointed to the post of Development Manager with An Lòchran. Since childhood, I have had a passion for Gaelic and the arts. With An Lòchran, I have a fantastic opportuntiy to contribute greatly to the development of new Gaelic arts projects in Glasgow, where the city and Gaelic are so closely and strongly linked".
