Sgrìobh Steffi pìos snog mu eilean beag, iomallach sa Chuan a Tuath air a bheil Trischen 👀 Tha cruth an eilein seo coltach ri leth-ghealach, ann an dòigh. Chan fhaod ach aonar a dhol ann – agus sin air adhbharan glèidheadh bith-iomadachd. Cuspair fìor chudromach a th’ ann sna làithean seo, mar a tha fios againn!

San t-seagh sin, tha sinn an dòchas gun còrd e ribh uile tuilleadh fhaighinn a-mach mun eilean ris an canar Trischen…agus mun duine a dh’fhaodas a dhol ann.

 Trischen

Tha mi sgìth dhen dreuchd agam. Tha mi sgìth de dhaoine. Feumaidh mi àite sàmhach. Feumaidh mi bliadhna rannsachaidh.

Mar sin, bidh dreuchd ùr agam. Sa Mhàrt, thèid mi gu Trischen agus ’s e uàrdan-eun a bhios annam. ’S e eilean sònraichte anns a’ Chuan a Tuath Ghearmailteach a th’ ann an Trischen. ’S e eilean dìon-eun a th’ ann. Chan fhaod duine sam bith a dhol a-steach gu Trischen ach aonar – an t-uàrdan-eun. Bidh e ann bhon Mhàrt chun na Dàmhair.

Cha bhi feum agam air mòran. Bidh dealan is eadar-lìon ann agus thig bàta le biadh is litrichean a h-uile seachdain. Bheir mi glainneachan-prosbaig airson nan eun, an cupa as fheàrr leam, agus bogsa leabhraichean leamsa.

Sa mhadainn, bidh mi a’ cunntadh nan eun, ach san fheasgar gabhaidh mi fois. Leughaidh mi leabhraichean agus òlaidh mi tì mhath.

Tha mi a’ dèanamh fiughair ris.

Nach e sgeul snog a tha sin? Bidh sinn air ais san Dàmhair, a chàirdean! Tha sin ceart – leis gum bi Andy againn air làithean-saora fad grunn seachdainean, cha ghabh an fharpais àite san t-Sultain. Ach cho luath ’s a bhios farpais na Dàmhair air-loidhne, cuiridh sinn fios thugaibh.

This was the subject of last month’s creative writing competition 🙂 We would like to extend our thanks to all our participants who got busy writing their pieces! However – as we say each time – there can only be one winner. And…

…it’s Steffi again 👏

Steffi wrote a lovely story about a wee remote island in the North Sea called Trischen 👀 The shape of this island is similar to that of a half-moon! Only one person is allowed to go there – and this is for biodiversity conservation purposes. A highly important subject in these present times, as we know!

 Trischen

I’m tired of my job. I’m tired of other people. I need a quiet place. I need a year off, to do some research.

In this respect, I have a new job lined up. In March, I’m heading to Trischen and I’ll be a bird warden. Trischen is a special island in the German portion of the North Sea. It’s an island for the protection of birds. Nobody is allowed to enter Trischen apart from one individual – the bird warden. The warden stays there from March to October.

I won’t be needing much. There’ll be electricity and internet there, and a boat will bring food and letters each week. I’ll take binoculars for the birds, my favourite cup, and a box of books with me.

In the mornings, I’ll be counting the birds, but in the afternoons, I’ll be taking a break. I’ll read books and drink some good tea.

I’m looking forward to it.

What a nice story. We’ll be back in October, folks - yes, in October, as Andy will be on holiday for a few weeks before then. Therefore, there’ll be no competition in September. But as soon as our October competition is online, we will of course let you know.
